SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of food service tasks including meal assembly, delivery, dishwashing, and utensil cleaning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up and clean tray line assembly areas with food items, utensils, and supplies.
• Stock work stations with necessary food and non-food items.
• Operate tray line stations and read tray tickets for accuracy.
• Load trays onto delivery carts.
• Use elevator to deliver and retrieve carts from patient care units and clinics.
• Transport food service supplies to patient rooms and clinics as needed.
• Remove used trays from patient rooms and handle soiled trays.
• Bus trays from patients and customers.
• Operate dishwasher, clean kitchen equipment, and unload food from carts.
• Sanitize metal ware, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas and equipment.
• Prepare simple foods like sandwiches and salads if required.
• Maintain records such as tray delivery schedules.
• Assemble and transport department trash as needed.
• Foster good relationships with staff and patients, handle conflicts constructively.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient, staff, and hospital information.
• Follow safety protocols and report hazards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Some foodservice experience preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 100%).
• Lift and push up to 50 lbs.
• Pay close attention to detail for up to 50% of the time.

• Effective communication skills with staff and patients.
