Overview

The Food Service Supervisor provides oversight and direction to teams responsible for patient/resident, retail, and catering services (as applicable). They coordinate and lead, in conjunction with others on the department management team, to ensure that all meals are prepared and served in accordance with food safety regulations and guidelines as well as meeting therapeutic nutritional guidelines. They are capable of leading and engaging a diverse team, providing necessary training to meet specific position requirements, and assisting team members to reach their full potential. They may assume full department responsibilities in the absence of the manager/director.

Location: Williamsburg, Virginia

Responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring efficiency in kitchen/retail operations by managing workflow, schedules, and safety protocols. Prioritizing workload and coordinating with culinary and management teams based on patient/resident census and retail volume.
  2. Maintaining accurate accounting functions such as meal statistics, unit orders, cashier operations, and deposits, supporting departmental productivity through creative process improvements.
  3. Providing consistent positive customer service, striving to meet or exceed the needs of facility customers and patients, demonstrating flexibility and urgency to ensure an exceptional dining experience.
  4. Ensuring compliance with all food safety, sanitation regulations, and organizational policies. Promoting a safe work environment and addressing variances or non-compliance issues.
  5. Exercising positive leadership by developing staff, onboarding new employees, and reducing turnover.
  6. Monitoring food costs and inventory levels, assisting with billing accuracy, and managing supplies for daily operations and special events.
  7. Utilizing technology such as Food & Nutrition software, electronic health systems, and work order systems to improve efficiency.
  8. Supporting teamwork by assisting colleagues, addressing customer needs, and providing relief coverage as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare or hospitality food service experience (Required)
  • Allergen Awareness Certification - VA State (Required, within 180 days)
  • Food Protection Manager Certification - VA State (Required, within 180 days)
  • Certified Dietary Manager (Preferred)
