Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in food management from an accredited college.
  • Registered Dietitian or Dietetics Technician, Registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Must obtain Texas Food Service Manager certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise room service staff and ensure meals are delivered on time.
  • Coordinate with dietetics to ensure meals meet patient needs.
  • Maintain compliance with TDH food safety standards and sanitation.
  • Answer patient calls and requests with high customer service and diet knowledge.

Additional Posting Details: Monday - Friday with rotational weekends PRN, as needed

Job Description

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Mix formula based on ordered recipe.
  • Ensures correct formula is delivered to the patients on time.
  • Supervisor knowledgeable on all room service worker positions.
  • May assist or complete duties if staffing levels do not fill the required positions indicated to operate effectively.
  • Conducts meal rounds and audits on room service staff to evaluate patient satisfaction.
  • Implement changes when indicated.
  • Utilize computer programs for coordinating room service for the inpatient population and update changes needed.
  • Efficiently answer telephone calls from patients requesting meals, handle all calls with a high level of customer service and a knowledge of diets and compliance.
  • Documents on each patient at meal periods.
  • Document and meet with room service staff on a regular basis.
  • Monitors department areas for compliance with TDH food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Proficient in HACCP standards and can educate staff members.
  • Processes required documents/requests for maintenance, information services and environmental services.
  • Enters food selection forms for swallow studies and ensures that trays are delivered on time.
  • Completes other positions as indicated.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in food management.
  • Registered Dietitian or Dietetics Technician, Registered with Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or 3 years food service experience required.
  • Must be a State of Texas Food Service Manager within 60 days of hire.
