Job description

Job Title: Food Service Specialist II (Shipping/Receiving)

Our agency is dedicated to supporting the recovery of individuals with mental illnesses by providing comprehensive medical and support services across South Carolina. This position is based at the Department of Mental Health, Inpatient Services - Crafts-Farrow, located at 7901 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Receiving food and supplies, storing them appropriately using FIFO principles, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of all cold and dry storage areas.
  • Maintaining records for inventories, quality control, sanitation, temperature logs, and ensuring compliance with HACCP standards.
  • Conducting physical inventories, filling requisitions, and verifying deliveries against invoices.
  • Performing warewashing, sanitation, and cleaning to meet department standards.
  • Providing excellent customer service to clients, Nutrition Services staff, and other DMH staff in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Adhering to patient privacy standards and the 'Bill of Rights' during all duties.

There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this position. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or other languages) are a plus.

Physical Requirements: The candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs manually, push 100 lbs, and stand or walk for extended periods. Tasks may involve bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and climbing stairs. Work may occur in temperatures ranging from -10°F to 400°F around equipment. This role is essential during emergencies.
