Job summary

Wayne UNC Health Care is seeking a Food Service Associate to support patient services, host/hostess duties, and retail cafe operations in the dietary department. The role requires flexibility to work in various areas and shifts, with a focus on accurate portions, patient interaction, and food safety.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and at least 6 months of food service or customer service experience. Prior knowledge of therapeutic diets and sanitation procedures is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; higher education supersedes.
• 6+ months of food service or customer service experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of therapeutic diets.
• Basic knowledge of food service and sanitary procedures.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays.
• English literacy and communication.

Responsibilities

• Serve food in patient services area following HACCP guidelines and diet orders.
• Assist in host/hostess duties and communicate with patients.
• Operate cash register and handle transactions in the retail/café area.
• Maintain cleanliness, restock nourishment rooms, and assist with meals.
• Record temperatures and ensure compliance with diet orders and menu tickets.
