The State of Louisiana invites applications for a Dietary Supervisor in the Nursing Department at Northwest LA Veterans Home, Bossier City. You will manage the Dietary team, ensuring daily nutritional needs of veterans are met with quality and compassion.

The role requires supervising staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring sanitation and diet orders are correctly followed, with 8-hour shifts including day or evening hours.

Qualifications

• Three years of food service experience in a food service operation.
• Three years of training in food technology, food service management, or related curriculum.
• 36 semester hours in food and nutrition or related fields.

Responsabilités

• Provides direct and indirect supervision, guidance, and assistance to subordinate Food Service Specialists; counsels, trains staff, and approves leave.
• Maintains accountability of foodstuffs, kitchen equipment, and supplies; ensures leftovers are utilized efficiently.
• Ensures final food product quality, sanitation, safety, and adherence to agency policy.
• Assists in food preparation when needed and prepares diet cards for distribution.
• Keeps records of meals served, leftovers, and meal ticket sales.

Description du poste

The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

This position is located in the Nursing Department of the Northwest LA Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana.

We’re looking for a Dietary Supervisor to help manage our Dietary team—a proactive, hard-working team, working to ensure that our Veterans' daily nutritional needs are met.

Experience Requirements

• Three years of food service experience in a food service operation; OR
• Three years of training in food technology, food service management, or in a food service-related curriculum in a trade school or technical institute; OR
• Thirty-six semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or hotel, food service, restaurant, or institutional management.

Job Duties

• Provides direct and indirect supervision, guidance, and assistance to subordinate Food Service Specialists. Reviews and evaluates the performance of subordinates, counsels employees, trains staff, and approves leave. Instructs subordinates in proper food preparation, serving, storage, and cleaning.
• Maintains accountability of foodstuffs, kitchen equipment, and supplies. Responsible for ensuring leftovers are utilized efficiently.
• Responsible for the final food product and adherence to standards to include quality, sanitation, and safety. Ensures agency policy and procedures are followed.
• Assist in food preparation when the shift is short.
• Prepare diet cards for distribution. Make sure appropriate meals are being served according to the diet order.
• Maintains records of meals served, leftovers, and meal ticket sales.

Position-Specific Details

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8-hour shifts, which include DAY OR EVENING shifts.

Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay of $2.00 per hour worked.
