Job summary

Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Food Service Specialist in the Northwest LA Veterans Home, located in Bossier City, LA. The role encompasses a range of food preparation and sanitation tasks within the dietary department.

No experience or training is required. Compensation details show two levels: Specialist 1 at $10.00/hour plus $2.00 premium per hour and Specialist 2 at $10.70/hour plus $2.00 premium per hour.

Responsibilities

• Prepares salads; cuts desserts; makes tea, jello, and sandwiches; and fills salt and pepper shakers prior to mealtime.
• Washes, chops, and cuts vegetables; opens cans and assists food preparation specialists in preparing foods prior to cooking.
• Measures and assembles ingredients.
• Washes dishes and pots.
• Performs duties that involve the cleaning and sanitation of the food service area.
• Prepares trays and special formulas for special diets.
• Gathers materials necessary for dough making.
• Assists in mixing, kneading, and preparing breads, rolls, biscuits, cakes, etc.
