Warren Woods Public Schools operates the Warren Woods Early Childhood Center in Warren, Michigan, and is hiring a Kitchen Helper for the morning shift. The role runs 9:30am to 1:00pm, four days per week (Monday through Thursday), totaling about 3.5 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Certification in Applied Food Service Sanitation or equivalent.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving.
• Ability to pass an entry level aptitude test.

Responsabilités

• Perform daily food preparation as assigned, including salad, sandwiches, deli items, cookies, and pretzels.
• Implement HACCP procedures as requested.
• Assist with daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and ensure sanitation standards are met.
• Set up and break down serving lines (salad bar, hot food, a la carte, etc.).
• Operate equipment, POS/cash register, count money, make change, and reconcile deposits.
• Work professionally with students and staff.
• Identify reimbursable lunches.
• Participate in workshops or trainings to improve lunch program.
• Perform other similar duties as may be requested.

SUMMARY: To assist in the preparation and serving of food to students/staff in a quick and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement H.A.C.C.P. procedures as requested.
• Assist with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and ensure cleanliness and sanitation conditions are met.
• Sets up and breaks down serving lines (salad bar, hot food, a la carte, etc.).
• Ability to perform all responsibilities of a helper, including but not limited to, operate all equipment, POS/cash register, count money, make change, and reconciliation of bank deposit and daily paper work.
• Works professionally with both students and staff.
• Is familiar with reimbursable lunch requirements and can properly identify a reimbursable lunch.
• Shall, as requested by the Director of Food Service, participate in workshops or in-service training programs which may improve his/her skills for overall improvement of the district’s lunch program.
• Shall perform other similar duties as may be requested by the Head Cook and/or Director of Food Service.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of certification for Applied Food Service Sanitation Course taken through statewide training or local training. High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to pass an entry level aptitude test. Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.
