Job summary

Huck’s Food and Fuel is seeking a Food Service Associate to help run our food service area with a focus on fast, friendly service and high store standards. The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to policies, and daily responsibilities in a fast-paced grocery environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or food service preferred.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Open and prep food service area during hours.
• Provide prompt, courteous service to customers.
• Communicate effectively with store associates.
• Follow all laws and regulations governing the store.
• Control food preparation to avoid waste while ensuring availability.
• Assist in training new associates on duties and standards.
• Ensure shift procedures are followed and a safe environment is maintained.
• Ensure current plan‑ograms are used and inventory is managed.
• Promote and explain Huck’s Bucks Loyalty app to customers.
• Keep food service areas clean and properly maintained.
• Report maintenance issues promptly to the store manager.

Job Title: Food Service Associate

Job Purpose

Every Huck's Market Food Service Associate plays a key role in running the food service area smoothly and effectively. By following company guidelines, Associates help make sure the department stays profitable while delivering top-notch quality food and customer service.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

• Ensures that the food service department is open and ready for business during food service hours
• Gives all customers prompt and courteous service
• Effectively communicates with store associates
• Follows all federal, state and local laws and ordinances pertaining to the operation of the store
• Controls how much food is prepared to avoid waste, while making sure there’s always enough for customers

Human Resources

• Treats all associates with dignity and respect
• Advises store manager of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance
• Assist in training new associates on proper completion of their job duties

Security

• Ensures all associate shift procedures are followed
• Ensures a safe shopping and working environment
• Ensures all safety rules are followed and protective equipment used

Merchandising

• Ensures current plan-o-grams are being used
• Communicate with Manager any special needs or request
• Alerts Manager about ordering merchandise to prevent out of stocks and maintain proper inventory levels as directed

Huck’s Bucks Loyalty App

• Actively promote the Huck’s Bucks Loyalty app to customers
• Communicate to customers the benefits of signing up and using the app
• Monitor transactions for potential misuse of points or discounts
• Assist customers on how to sign up and use the app for discounts and redemption

Maintenance

• Ensures the food service appearance reflects company expectations and standards
• All food service display cases and glass are clean
• Reports any maintenance problems that cannot be corrected immediately without assistance to the store manager
• Ensures all food service areas are kept clean and follows all sanitation procedures

Safety

• Ensures that ladders are properly used
• Ensures that lifting procedures are followed per company policy
• Ensures that wet floor signs are used, per company policy
• Reports accidents promptly to the Store Manager and Corporate office
