Responsabilidades

Title

Food Service Helper

Reports To

Building Administrator or Department Supervisor/Director.

Purpose

The Food Service Helper works under the immediate supervision of a Cook, Dietetic Technician, or Food Service Supervisor in connection with the preparation of food, service of food, and cleaning of kitchen equipment. The Food Service Helper also helps greet patrons and support a welcoming environment within the building/department.

Expected Results

1. The Food Service Helper will ensure the day-to-day functions of the building/department are accomplished by:

   • Maintaining working knowledge of the proper methods of serving food.
   • Maintaining working knowledge of the care of kitchen appliances.
   • Filling condiments, utensils, napkins, straws, and necessary supplies for food service and consumption.
   • Cleaning, washing, and preparing vegetables and fruit for cooking.
   • Assisting in the preparation of salads and desserts.
   • Assisting cooks in any phase of their duties.
   • Washing dishes, pots, and pans by hand or machine.
   • Acting as cashier when directed.
   • Following all requirements, regulations, and policies outlined in the Food Service Handbook.

2. The Food Service Helper will ensure all parents, students, community members, employees, and visitors to the Palmyra-Macedon CSD experience the Pal-Mac Way by:

   • Greeting parents, students, community members, employees, and all visitors with a friendly and helpful attitude.
   • Displaying a customer service approach when working with others in person, on the phone, and through written and electronic communication.
   • Being attentive to the needs of all individuals who request assistance.
   • Communicating clearly, both verbally and in writing.
   • Utilizing skills to de-escalate situations when others are in a heightened state.

3. The Food Service Helper will assume other duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Building Administrator or Department Supervisor/Director.
