Job description

Job Title: Food Service Director

Gemma Services, located on two picturesque campuses in Plymouth Meeting and two satellite campuses in Philadelphia, promotes safety and nonviolence while cultivating a caring environment in a diverse and inclusive community. We strive to create a community that promotes recovery from trauma for the children and families we serve.

We are seeking a Food Service Director to lead and support all aspects of the Food Service Department across our locations in Plymouth Meeting. The role involves overseeing food quality, presentation, customer service, procurement, and maintenance of food service facilities and equipment. The director may be required to cook and serve meals and manage food production for large events with over 300 staff and children, both indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities:

1. Establish, implement, and evaluate processes and procedures emphasizing high-quality food and service.
2. Implement a cost-effective procurement system compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
3. Coordinate maintenance and repair of food service facilities and equipment with the Vice President of Operations.
4. Prepare and serve meals as needed, including large-scale event catering.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition, food service management, culinary arts, or business management.
• Certifications: Current ServSafe certification.
• Skills: Knowledge of School Nutrition Program (SNP) rules, HACCP standards, and food safety procedures; proficiency in operating all food service equipment, including Point of Service; strong leadership, communication, and computer skills; business acumen preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of five years leadership experience in school food service preferred.
