Job description

Position Overview: To oversee all food service operations and to assist the Guest Services Director as requested.

Classification: Full time exempt


Qualifications:
  1. Growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  2. At least 21 years of age
  3. ServSafe Certified (or willing/able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire)
  4. Experience in cooking/food service operations for large groups
  5. Able to work weekends during most of the year
  6. Supportive of the mission, vision and values of Kenbrook Bible Camp
  7. Teachable spirit; team-player attitude; servant heart; responsible; industrious; hospitable
  8. Love for and desire to work with people in a camp and retreat setting
  9. Ability to communicate well with guests, staff and others (written and oral)
  10. Work efficiently and effectively unsupervised
  11. Able to stand for long periods of time and lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  12. Knowledge and understanding of Summer Food Service Program
  13. Reside onsite at Kenbrook (preferred, not required)

Guest Services/Operations Director


Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for menu planning for nutritious, age and culturally appropriate meals for a variety of retreat groups and demographics
  2. Develop and maintain accurate food preparation sheets and menus
  3. Plan, prepare and serve excellent quality food in the context of safety, nutrition and guest needs
  4. Ensure food is ready to serve when scheduled with a high quality, excellent presentation
  5. Prepare meals as needed for guests with dietary restrictions (to the greatest extent possible)
  6. Develop routine cleaning and sanitizing schedule of all kitchen areas to be completed daily/weekly
  7. Ensure general cleaning (daily and weekly) of the kitchen, food storage, food handling areas and dining hall in accordance with Health Department regulations
  8. Clean kitchen and serving area thoroughly after each meal and at the end of each service period
  9. Oversee and staff food service operations for annual special events and/or fundraisers
  10. Ensure proper staffing levels by recruiting, interviewing and training kitchen staff members in conjunction with the Guest Services Director
  11. Manage staff and volunteers in the kitchen, dining room and dish area operations; including scheduling, performance feedback and evaluation
  12. Order food and kitchen supplies as needed; ensuring adequate quantities and minimizing waste
  13. Maintain accurate inventory record of all food and supplies (with expiration dates)
  14. Receive, verify and store food order and supplies properly
  15. Track food costs to maintain a fiscally responsible cost per plate
  16. Develop annual food service budget with supervisor and review monthly expense reports
  17. Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations, including ACA standards (to the greatest extent possible)
  18. Obtain and maintain First Aid Certification
  19. Provide quarterly department reports for the Board of Directors
  20. Attend Board of Directors meetings as requested
  21. Regular attendance at a local church
