Wage Rate
$65,000/year

About This Position
This position is working inside a jail/correctional facility at the Cayuga County Jail. The Food Service Director plans, directs, and coordinates the activities associated with running a single site, stand-alone food service operation in a facility with only one kitchen and less than 1,000 inmates/beds. This position oversees the operational and financial responsibilities for the kitchen and supervises an Assistant Food Service Director and/or a team of Food Service Workers and/or Cooks involved with food preparation, serving, and clean-up in a secure correctional facility.

Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities

• Oversee daily activities of staff and assign responsibilities
• Train and orient new employees
• Perform daily operational duties
• Ensure safety and sanitation standards
• Plan, assign, and inspect work
• Maintain sanitary environment and comply with regulations
• Assist in meal preparation when needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Knowledge of regulations and inspection processes
• This role includes physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
• Be able to stand and be on your feet for much of the shift

What You'll Need

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, and at least 18 years old
• Five years of management or supervisory experience in food service
• ServSafe Certification
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety standards
• Basic accounting and mathematical skills
• Prior institutional or restaurant experience preferred
