Job description

Position Purpose:

Horizons at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy seeks a Food Services Coordinator to oversee daily meal distribution and ensure compliance with the Archdiocese's food program. This individual will be responsible for receiving and distributing meals, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all food safety standards are met. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and can work efficiently in a school setting.

Essential Functions:

I. Meal Distribution & Preparation

1. Arrive by 7:00 AM daily to receive food deliveries.
2. Verify delivery counts and ensure accuracy.
3. Distribute breakfast to classrooms promptly.
4. Prepare for lunch service, ensuring all meals are properly accounted for.
5. Pack and prepare lunches for student trips as needed.

II. Food Safety & Compliance

1. Ensure all food items meet quality and expiration date standards.
2. Adjust food orders as needed to meet school demand.
3. Maintain proper documentation for the food program.
4. Communicate with food program inspectors and ensure compliance with regulations.

III. General Duties

1. Maintain cleanliness and organization in food storage and distribution areas.
2. Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time.
3. Be punctual and reliable, ensuring smooth food service operations each day.

Qualifications:

1. Available for a 6-week summer program from June 23 to August 1, 2025 for the hours of 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Monday - Friday).
2. Prior experience in food service, school nutrition programs, or a similar role is preferred.
3. Strong organizational and time management skills.
4. Ability to lift and carry food items as needed.
5. Basic record-keeping and inventory management skills.
6. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
7. Commitment to food safety and hygiene practices.
8. Fulfills any other tasks or duties as requested or assigned by the Site Director.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

1. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-moving environment where unexpected student issues and varying challenges compete for one's attention.
2. Ability to stand for extended periods.
3. Be able to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
4. Regularly use close and distance vision.
5. Frequently stand and talk, hear, walk, and sit.
6. Turn, bend, reach, and occasionally climb.
