ShopRite Hamden is hiring a Food Service Clerk to deliver friendly, attentive customer service in a fast-paced department. You will assist with food preparation, merchandising, and recommendations while maintaining a neat and safe workspace.

Responsibilities include stocking, rotating products, ensuring proper temperatures, and using department equipment such as slicers and scales. Strong English, physical stamina, and teamwork are essential for this full-time role with benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak English.
• Must be able to perform basic math.
• Stand/walk for a full shift and lift 25–60 lbs.
• Work in varying temperatures and with fresh/dried products.
• Interact with customers in a friendly manner.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Prepare products (salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pastas) per recipes and standards.
• Check temperatures in display cases and storage areas.
• Follow procedures for receiving, storing, and dating products.
• Operate department equipment (slicer, scale, can opener, wrapping machine).
• Dress and groom according to policy (uniform, name badge).
• Regularly lift 25 lbs and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
