UPMC Shadyside Hospital is hiring full-time, flex full-time, part-time, and casual Food Service Attendants to support its patient services department. The position requires working holidays and weekends, with hours between 5:00am to 8:30pm. Candidates must have open availability.

All hired individuals must comply with UPMC’s COVID vaccination requirements upon employment. Refer to the COVID-19 Vaccination Information section at the top of this page for details.

Responsibilities:
  1. Follow department procedures for operating all food service equipment.
  2. Maintain hand hygiene and infection control procedures when interacting with customers.
  3. Assemble and serve meals according to diet orders, menus, and patient/guest requirements.
  4. Ensure necessary food and service equipment/utensils are available before meal service.
  5. Inventory and stock bulk supplies following established procedures and schedules.
  6. Apply HACCP principles to maintain food safety and quality during service.
  7. Serve patient meals using the designated script, including proper patient identification.
  8. Perform sanitation of the work area according to departmental and health guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or 1 year of relevant work experience in lieu of diploma.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance.
