Job summary

Reavis High School District 220 is seeking a Head Cook / Assistant Director to support the Food Service Director in the school nutrition program. You will oversee daily food production, ensure quality and safety, and assist with inventory and ordering for students and staff.

Responsibilities include preparing daily meals, menu development in line with USDA guidelines, and ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training preferred.
• Experience in food service production and kitchen supervision required.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures; ServSafe preferred.

Position Summary

The Head Cook / Asst. Director supports the Food Service Director in the overall operation of the school nutrition program. This position oversees daily food production, ensures high standards of food quality and safety, and assists with inventory and ordering. This position also requires the prep and cooking of all food for students and staff while following NSLP (National School Lunch Program) requirements.

• Prepare and prep for daily food preparation and production
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control
• Support the development and implementation of menus in accordance with USDA guidelines
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
• Assist the Food Service Director with scheduling, recordkeeping, and special events
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional culinary or food service training preferred
• Previous experience in food service production and kitchen supervision required
• Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures
• Ability to lead and motivate staff in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40–50 pounds
• ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Hours:

6:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (during the school year)

Salary

$23.75 per hour
