Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support daily meal operations at our Hartford location. This role involves preparing patient trays, assisting with food prep, replenishing supplies, and maintaining sanitation in the service areas.

Candidates should be able to read, write, and speak English, and be comfortable following safety and PPE procedures. Flexible shift with weekends and holidays may be required as part of rotating schedules.

• Basic math and counting skills used for serving and tray assembly.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English clearly.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient trays for service in a timely manner.
• Assists with food preparation and replenishes supplies as needed.
• Washes dishes and cleans equipment to maintain sanitation.
• Serves food and supports the overall meal service area.

Provides routine support services such as preparing patient trays, assisting with food preparation, replenishing supplies, washing dishes, and operating equipment in the cafeteria such as the cash register, cash handling, and/or patient tray service areas. Maintains proper sanitation of food service areas and equipment and adheres to stringent food handling procedures.

Performs assigned routine food service tasks in a specific area under close supervision to meet food service demands.
