Job summary

Adventist Health Portland is seeking a dedicated food service associate to operate the cafeteria POS system, stock supplies, and maintain clean, organized dining and kitchen areas. The role includes delivering patient meals, serving customers, and ensuring food safety standards are met in a hospital environment.

Preferred candidates hold a High School/GED and may have an Associate/Technical degree. ServSafe or equivalent certification is required in Oregon, with additional certification

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent preferred.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred.
• SERV Safe certification or equivalent required in OR.
• OFH OR FH-efoodcard OR FH OR SERVSAFE required.

Responsibilities

• Operates the restaurant point of sale system as the cashier and handles cash register operations.
• Stocks restaurant supplies and maintains set up; cleans and stocks food inventories.
• Maintains cleanliness of public areas and sanitary conditions in kitchen and dining areas.
• Sets up and serves patient trays; transports and stores supplies between kitchen and serving lines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• SERV Safe certification or equivalent: Required in OR

Essential Functions

• Receives, prepares, and delivers customer orders in efficient manner. Performs a variety of simple and routine tasks related to the preparation and serving of food; cleans kitchen area and cooking utensils.
• Operates cash register and stocks restaurant supplies when needed.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization in work area and promptly reports needed maintenance or repair of equipment. Maintains the cleaning and temperature log. Cleans the kitchen areas and cooking utensils. Operates dishwashing, peeling and other mechanical equipment.
• Sets up and serves patient trays. Carries dishes and foods between kitchen and serving lines. Transports and stores supplies. Washes and cuts vegetables and fruits.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
