Essential Job Function:

A Fresh Foods Clerk manages daily operations of the store's deli/food service area, ensuring high standards of sanitation, store appearance, and guest service while following company policies and procedures. This role requires a passion for food and customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a positive, friendly attitude towards guests and team members.
• Engage with guests through greetings, offering product information, suggestions, sampling, and expressing gratitude.
• Provide fast, friendly guest service.
• Handle cash register transactions, including giving change and processing refunds.
• Use scale printers accurately for weights and pricing.
• Monitor product pricing, signage, and placement, including shelf tags and signage.
• Keep check stand and work areas clean, neat, and organized.
• Prepare, wrap, weigh, slice, and stock deli/food products, rotating stock as needed for quality and safety.
• Prepare and cook deli items such as fried foods, salads, sandwiches, roller grill items, beverages, and prepared meals.
• Work safely around equipment like slicers, tools, ovens, and burners.
• Display products following department and merchandising guidelines.
• Take guest orders, ensuring timely and satisfactory service.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings; assist other locations as needed.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Serv-Safe certification preferred.
• Interest in learning new products and recipes.
• Passion for food and creativity.
• Maintain helpful, tactful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
• Work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic math skills for register and transaction handling.
• Ability to operate register, scales, scanners, and payment terminals.
• Ability to read UPC codes, labels, signage, and company policies.
• Knowledge of deli ingredients and food preparation.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
• Ability to work with various ingredients and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
• Reaching above shoulder, bending, standing for long periods.
• Work in coolers and freezers.
• Use hands dexterously for equipment operation.
