Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Assistant for Rockland Woods Elementary School. The role supports the base operation with part-time hours (3.75 per day) within a 10-month work year, reporting to the Assistant Supervisor of Food and Nutrition Services.

Primary duties include food preparation, serving, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment. Preference given to those with food service experience and Serv-Safe certification; willingness to work at any WCPS site is

• Serv-Safe certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment and to keep current throughout employment.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others, accept direction, assume leadership responsibility and complete tasks as assigned.
• Willingness to be assigned at any site within the base operation.
• Regular and predictable attendance which is an essential function of this position.
• Ability to meet physical requirements: prolonged standing; lifting/carrying heavy objects; stooping, bending, reaching; tolerate noise, odors and temperature variations; load and transport meals.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

• Complete clean-up and dishwashing duties as assigned.
• Report food supply needs and problems to the Site Supervisor.
• Serve food to students and adults using portion control standards as directed.
• Maintain clean work area.

• Assist with any phase of kitchen operations.
• Operate computerized cash register system.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies.
• Adhere to regulations for students with special dietary needs.
• Attend mandatory training as required by program standards.

Preferred Qualifications
Food Service experience.
Knowledge of food service equipment; appropriate operations, cleaning, and sanitizing.
Knowledge or ability to learn quantity cooking.
Ability to communicate effectively with members of the food service staff, school staff, students and the community.
Ability to use computer systems to perform work functions.

Role Responsibilities
