Department Details

The Food Service Assistant is responsible for duties including monitoring and recording food temperatures, setting up and maintaining a clean, sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning equipment, receiving payment with a computerized register, and other related responsibilities.

Job Description

• Complies with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service.
• Provides outstanding customer service and communicates effectively with patrons and co-workers.
• Establishes effective working relationships.
• Maintains quality control standards.
• Operates equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Preferably has experience in the food industry.
• Works independently when necessary.
• Understands food safety and sanitation processes.
• Ability to stand for most of the day and walk long distances.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Previous customer service experience, retail, money reconciliation, and food service knowledge preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
• Basic math skills.
• On-the-job training will be provided.
• Depending on location, Serv Safe certification may be required within a specified time frame.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required depending on the location.
