Job summary

NMS is seeking a Food Service Worker to perform cleaning, food prep, stocking and serving in a commercial kitchen serving the Ketchikan Pioneer Home in Ketchikan, AK. This is not a rotational position.

You will assist residents, follow food safety procedures, operate service lines and maintain dining and storeroom areas. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pass TB screening may be required during onboarding.

Qualifications

• Preference will be given to candidates with at least six (6) months experience in the food service industry.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have Food Handlers Card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire.
• Must have some knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents as requested with general information, inquiries, etc.
• Obtains products requested by residents.
• Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Properly, safely, and efficiently prepares various food products following and observing standard food handling procedures.
• Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.
• Stocks storage areas with various products.
• Cleans, sweeps, wipes down, etc. all general dining, kitchen, or storage areas (in some cases), spike rooms, and equipment as well as all floors.
• Support an effective Safety Program.
• Removes garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines, etc.
• Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
• Assists cooks and others as needed and coordinates one’s own activities with other’s.
• May occasionally prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
