Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs duties related to the Food Service Department, excluding hot food preparation. Works closely with other Food Service employees and follows oral and written instructions. Duties may vary based on departmental needs.

Education
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED; equivalent experience considered.
  • Previous Food Service experience desirable.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Basic computer skills for email and testing required.
Experience
  • Knowledge of food preparation and equipment operation is desirable.
  • Familiarity with special and restricted diets is helpful.
  • Effective communication skills with personnel are necessary.
Work Environment
  • Must meet physical requirements of the job, with or without accommodations.
  • Typical hazards include hot surfaces, sharp objects, electrical equipment, and temperature extremes.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds of food items.
  • Requires extensive walking, standing, and bending, approximately 80% of the time.
  • Ability to reach high shelves and work at various heights.
  • Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting, and occasional patient lifting.
  • Medium lifting capacity, generally up to 50 lbs with assistance, and carrying objects up to 25 lbs.
Annual Requirements
  • Participate in OSHA training annually.
  • Attend at least one continuing education seminar per year.
  • Comply with employee health and hospital in-service training requirements.
