Join Our Team as a Food Service Aide/Assistant Teacher at Wonderspring!

Wonderspring is seeking a Food Service Aide/Assistant Teacher to join our vibrant team at our Star 4 New Market West Center! Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Food Service

1. Organize, prepare, and deliver breakfast, lunch, and snacks to classrooms, ensuring all meals align with the menu and accommodate dietary needs and allergies.
2. Monitor food and supply inventory; place weekly orders per CACFP, Kremmer’s, and Novick guidelines. Verify deliveries against invoices and promptly address any discrepancies.
3. Complete daily meal count forms and inventory sheets. Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with food program requirements.
4. Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and appliances regularly. Perform monthly deep-cleaning tasks and adhere to all health and safety standards.
5. Check and log refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily, reporting any issues immediately.
6. Update and distribute food allergy and preference lists. Ensure all classrooms are stocked with necessary dining supplies.

Assistant Teacher

1. Assist with classroom coverage and float between classrooms as needed to ensure compliance and supervision.
2. Support the Lead Teacher in implementing approved, curriculum-based lesson plans.
3. Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, being attentive to their individual and group needs.
4. Teach children acceptable alternatives to challenging behaviors using provided techniques such as FLIP IT and Second Step.
5. Keep parents informed about their children's progress and any relevant observations.
6. Maintain a professional and positive attitude with children, parents, co-workers, and administrators.

Qualifications

1. Minimum, High School Diploma/GED
2. Food Service Certification, required
3. At least two years' experience in early childcare education (2,500 verified hours).
4. Excellent communication skills for engaging with parents/guardians.
5. Ability to maintain high level standards of confidentiality regarding center, staff, and family matters
6. Understanding of DHS licensing, Keystone Stars, and accreditation standards.
7. Proficient in managing a multicultural classroom environment.
