The Webb City R-7 School District is seeking a part-time Cook to assist in preparing nutritious school meals, serving meals, and maintaining a clean kitchen and cafeteria. This 9-month position follows the school calendar and supports a quality food service program.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, fingerprint check, ServSafe certification within the first year, and the ability to follow written instructions and maintain safety standards. 2-hour shift.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and planning of meals.
  • Serve meals to students.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, trays and other items necessary for food services.
  • Report any deficiencies or safety concerns to the immediate supervisor.
  • Assist in the preparation of main and alternate line food items according to the planned menu and procedures.
  • Assist in planning and adjusting standardized recipes as needed to ensure adequate amounts of food.
  • Serve proper serving sizes to meet age-based requirements.
  • Clean kitchen equipment and wash/sterilize utensils daily.
  • Follow procedures to maintain safe and sanitary conditions in storage, prep, and service.
  • Operate serving line with prompt, courteous service.
  • Ensure dining and kitchen areas are attractive and clean.
  • Model positive behavior for students and maintain professional conduct.
  • Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Adhere to safety practices and district policies.
  • Perform all other duties as required.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Part-Time Cook is to assist in preparing nutritious and appetizing school meals, serving meals, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and cafeteria, clean utensils and equipment as part of providing a quality food service program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The duties of the Cook will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the preparation and planning of meals.
  • Serving meals.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, dishes, trays and other items necessary for food services.
  • Report any deficiencies or safety concerns to the immediate supervisor.
  • Assist in the preparation of main and alternate line(s) food items according to the planned menu and following established procedures.
  • Assist in planning and adjusting standardized recipes as needed to ensure adequate amounts of food are available for all school meals, satellites and special events.
  • Serve the proper serving sizes to meet the necessary requirements with regard to the ages of those serves as per regulations.
  • Assist with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware and utensils.
  • Follow procedures to maintain safe and sanitary conditions in the storage, preparation and service of food.
  • Operate serving line with prompt, courteous and efficient service.
  • Assist in ensuring the dining and kitchen areas are attractive and clean.
  • Models positive behavior for students (i.e. inter-personal communication, processes, social interactions, etc.) for the purpose of providing educational and life skills training.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, dress and appropriate professional manner for the work setting.
  • Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Adheres to good safety practices.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all District rules, regulations and policies.
  • All other duties as required or assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • stand, walk, sit and talk/hear;
  • occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl;
  • occasionally push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs; and
  • be able to see, including close, distance and depth perception.
