Job summary

Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, RI seeks a full-time Cook to provide residents with high-quality dining in a restaurant-style setting. Work closely with the Executive Chef/Director to deliver excellent service and menus.

Hours include every other weekend and holidays; candidates should be detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, and willing to assist at another community as needed. ServSafe certification is preferred and travel may be reimbursed.

Qualifications

• ServSafe certification course preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Minimum of three years' experience as a Cook in a food service environment required.
• Detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Willing to assist at another community for coverage or help during an emergency; travel will be reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks meals according to established recipes and approved menus.
• Maintains quality and consistency of food, including temperatures, portions, palatability, and appearance.
• Performs routine tasks using dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by supervisor.
• Assists in cleaning kitchen equipment, storage, and supply areas as per community schedule.
• Removes garbage from the kitchen and cleans trash containers.
• Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Supports person-centered care by engaging with residents and families.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Purpose:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares and cooks meals according to established recipes and approved menus.
• Complies with quality and consistency of the food to include food temperatures, portion control, palatability and attractiveness of food.
• Perform defined work routines using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by supervisor.
• Required to assist in the cleaning of the kitchen equipment, food storage area, and supply areas according to the community schedule.
• Required to remove garbage from the kitchen and to clean trash containers.
• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
