Job summary

Front Porch is seeking a part-time Server for Villa Gardens Retirement Community in Pasadena, CA. The role involves serving residents and staff, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a welcoming dining experience during weekends and evenings.

Essential certification includes a Food Handlers’ certificate. Education can be as low as some high school; bachelor’s degree is nonessential. Compensation is hourly with a pay range of $20.25–$21.25 per hour, no tips.

Responsibilities

  • Food Service Server.
  • Provides quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co‑workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction.
  • Prepares the tables, lays out napkins and utensils, refilling condiments, performing all other preparation tasks.
  • Stays updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items.
  • Directs guests to their tables, presents menus, suggests dishes, assists in drink selection, informs guests about food preparation details, communicates specific guest needs to the cooks.
  • Maintains proper dining experience, delivers items, fulfills guest needs, offers desserts and drinks, removes courses, replenishes utensils, refills glasses.
  • Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
  • Fills in for absent staff as needed.
  • Assists with special events as needed.
  • Greets all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting.
  • Follows highest standards of cleanliness and all federal, state and corporate policies, health codes and guidelines in preparation and handling of foodstuffs.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner, wears safety equipment as required, reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor.
  • Follows department safety standards, practices correct body mechanics, and participates in campus‑wide safety programs.
  • Attends all mandatory in‑service meetings and complies with all department and facilities policies and procedures.
  • Understands facility’s fire and disaster plans; follows established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
  • Bringer of pie.

Education

Summary

Under the supervision of the Dining Room Manager, a Server interacts with our residents and employees of Front Porch residential facilities and ensures they have a great experience when dining. Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guests’ needs and to make them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. Servers are expected to have some basic food knowledge.

Pay range: $20.25 – $21.25 per hour (no tips)
