Job summary

University of Guam is seeking an Extension Associate I to work on food science project development and safety education. You will manage purchasing, conduct trials, and help run workshops under supervision.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree with relevant experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. A driver’s license may be preferred. This is a full-time, on-site position with standard work hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree with 3 years relevant and related work experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to utilize different platforms (e.g., Canva, Adobe, Instagram) to promote Extension activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite, reference manager, statistical and/or media software.
• Able to lift, up to, 25 lbs. Able to follow detailed protocols for food processing.

Responsibilities

• Work independently under the supervision and direction of the project investigators.
• The duties include purchasing supplies and ingredients, conducting trials or experiments for food product development and meat quality and food safety assessment.
• Preparing and co-facilitating workshops, and providing food technology & safety education to achieve objectives of the projects in food science and technology.
• The Extension Associate I is also required to analyze data, present results, and write reports to supervisors.
