Job summary

BrightFarms is hiring a Food Safety Technician for the Lorena, TX facility. This full-time, night-shift role (4pm - 4:30am) supports daily cleaning and equipment handling in a high-tech greenhouse environment focused on safe, high-quality leafy greens.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of related experience in food manufacturing or agriculture, strong attendance, and flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed. The position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to sanitation SOPs.

Qualifications

• 1 year of related experience in a food manufacturing or agricultural environment preferred but not required.
• Great attendance and dedication to the craft – the team heavily depends on one another to be on time and accountable.
• Flexibility to work the hours necessary to meet BrightFarms’ needs, including overtime hours, daily and/or weekend.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, climb, and lift up to 40lbs.
• Open to applicants who do not have a high school diploma/GED.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Other duties as assigned.

This is a manual labor position in all areas of the greenhouse. This means you will be working in the Cooler (35F-40F for part or all your shift and will dress accordingly. Employees will have some exposure to seasonal conditions which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winter. Often working near moving mechanical parts. There will be exposure to cleaning chemicals. The noise level of machines and cooling units can be loud.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employees are expected to constantly use hands to finger, handle or feel, as well as talk and hear. There is frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. The lifting requirements is up to 40 pounds. The employee should have clear correctable vision at close and distance range, as well as peripheral vision to notice safety hazards.
