Job description

At Diamond, we take pride in our work, our departments, and our company as a whole. We share a passion for pets and the unique bond that pet owners have with their dogs and cats. Diamond Pet Food is actively searching for an experienced manufacturing industrial sanitation technician for our production and packaging facility in Gaston, SC. This qualified individual will perform a variety of tasks, primarily indoors and outdoors near operating equipment. Loud noises such as forklift horns and loose particles may be present.

Work may require employees to work in hot weather, rain, and cold at different times throughout the year. Personal protective equipment such as bump caps, hearing protection, safety shoes, and glasses must be worn.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow proper cleaning protocols for assigned areas and sanitize machinery, moving to different parts of the plant as needed to assist with cleaning.
  • Use chemicals in accordance with SOPs and perform all tasks following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) according to company policies.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Climb ladders and work in confined spaces (training provided).
  • Work at heights and be comfortable doing so.
  • Become certified to operate equipment and forklifts.
  • Ensure minimal cross-contamination by properly utilizing color-coded equipment in designated zones.
  • Complete clean-out of production lines through foaming, sanitizing, scrubbing, and scraping using various chemicals and tools.
  • Participate in the Master Sanitation schedule, completing daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
  • Sort through all pallets, including identifying and removing bad pallets.
  • Sort chemicals, mix, and fill sanitizer tanks.
  • Complete special projects assigned by supervisors or managers.
  • Adhere to all SOPs and SSOPs.
  • Work overtime as required, with full participation.
  • Report safety hazards and violations immediately to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Participate in all safety programs and maintain a strong work ethic and attendance.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
