Job summary

Flying Food Group offers a Food Safety and Quality Technician role in a fast-paced Aurora, CO manufacturing environment. You will ensure products meet safety and quality standards and support regulatory compliance with HACCP, USDA, and FDA guidelines.

Responsibilities include reviewing QA/QC records, coordinating with regulators, supporting audits, and training staff on policies and procedures. The position is night shift; strong Excel and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs and SOPs is preferred.
  • BS degree or equivalent experience in a related field; flexibile.

Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain QA/QC records, documents and samples related to HACCP, USDA, and FDA.
  • Coordinate activities with regulatory agents such as USDA and FDA.
  • Prepare and manage audits with third-party customers.
  • Review food safety processes and procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee inspection of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods for high quality.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training on policies and procedures.
  • Observe production processes daily from prep to packaging.
  • Conduct weekly product evaluations and ingredient checks.
  • Perform microbiological testing as assigned (in-house ATP, Listeria tests).
  • Attend bi-weekly QA conference calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Unit Manager and Corporate QA.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Food Safety and Quality Technician to join our team! This position will be responsible for ensuring that all food products meet safety and quality standards, adhering to regulatory requirement, and contributing to the overall improvement of our food safety management system.

Essential Functions
  • Review and maintain of all Quality Assurance and Quality Control records, documents, and samples about HACCP, USDA, and FDA
  • Coordinate activities with regulatory agents such as the USDA and FDA
  • Ability to prepare and directly manage third-party customer audits
  • This person will be instrumental in reviewing food safety processes and procedures
  • Oversee inspection of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods to ensure the highest quality of products is delivered to customers
  • Initial and ongoing training of the employees on policies and procedures
  • Daily observations of production processes from preparation to packaging
  • Conduct weekly evaluation of products and ingredients ex. Chef Tables
  • Complete necessary Microbiological testing (internal and external testing) as assigned such as In-house ATP, In-house Listeria Spp., and Silliker Listeria Spp.
  • Attends bi-weekly QA conference calls
  • Other duties assigned by Unit Manager and/or Corporate Quality Assurance.
Other Responsibilities and duties will include, but not be limited to:

Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous knowledge working in food production, Quality Assurance, or related experience
  • BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's and SOP's a preferred
  • Knowledge of the Food Industry quality and sanitation standards and requirements
  • Bilingual
  • Computer Literate-Word & Excel mandatory
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, specifically in Excel
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organizational skills
  • Able to multi task and work independently with minimum supervision
  • Must be proficient in the English language in both written and oral
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, and this position will routinely use standard office equipment. Employee will be exposed to varying temperatures, including cold refrigeration (38 degrees).

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move 10- 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position in a 24/7/365 work environment. Days and hours of work vary based on operational needs and support. This is a night shift position.
