Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in food safety and/or food science required.
  • Completion of a meat cutting apprenticeship with Journeymen experience is desired.

Job description

Food Safety Manager

The successful candidate will have knowledge of retail meat cuts and product specifications, food safety and quality training, Microsoft Office, basic computer literacy, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Completion of a meat cutting apprenticeship with Journeymen experience is desired. Experience in quality assurance, food safety management systems, meat and poultry HACCP, and SQF Practitioner is required. This role will report to the QA Director. Backup for this role is the QA Manager.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of retail meat cuts and product specifications
  • Food safety and quality training
  • Supervisory experience (minimum 5 yrs.)
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in quality assurance, and food safety management systems, meat and poultry HACCP, and SQF Practitioner certification is desired.

Education / Training

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Basic Reading, Writing and Math skills
  • Food Science degree preferred
  • SQF Practitioner

Related Experience/Requirements

Minimum 5 yrs of experience in food safety and/or food science.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Job requires workers to lift up to 60 lbs. Must be able to step, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend, and reach above shoulders as needed. Work in a cold refrigerated environment.
