Job summary

Matrix Sciences International Inc. in Mount Prospect, IL is seeking a detail-oriented lab technician to perform routine and non-routine sample extraction and analysis of food and food ingredients for nutritional testing, proximate analysis, and contaminant screening.

You will follow standard operating procedures, maintain accurate documentation and traceability, meet sample turnaround goals, and participate in equipment calibration, waste disposal and lab maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associates Degree in Sciences or at least two years working in a commercial lab environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a team.
• Positive outlook with the ability to adapt to a multi-tasking and fast changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing of food and food ingredient samples using laboratory techniques per Standard Operating Procedures.
• Identify, communicate and document non-conformities related to daily activities.
• Ensure sample turnaround time goals and other key performance indicators are met.
• Perform and support routine laboratory maintenance tasks such as sample archiving, equipment monitoring and verifications, waste disposal and cleaning.
• Ensure accurate and complete traceability and documentation of testing activities performed.
• Identify and assist with implementation of process improvements.
• When required, assist with troubleshooting, implementation of corrective actions and method validation activities as directed by assigned staff.
• For methods within area of responsibility provide training for other laboratory staff.
• Adhere to lab safety procedures and reporting standards.
• Follow written Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Other duties may be assigned to assist with the operations of the lab.
