Job summary

Brothers Food Service is seeking an experienced Food Safety Manager to lead food safety and quality programs across our distribution operations. This role ensures products are received, stored, handled, and distributed safely while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field.
• At least three years of food safety management experience in food distribution, wholesale food operations, or food manufacturing.
• Strong working knowledge of applicable food safety regulations, HACCP, and GMPs.
• Experience conducting audits, maintaining compliance documentation, and managing corrective actions.
• Ability to train employees and communicate food safety expectations clearly.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and address food safety concerns promptly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain food safety policies, procedures, and monitoring programs.
• Oversee food safety practices throughout receiving, storage, product handling, loading, and distribution.
• Conduct facility inspections and internal audits to identify hazards, verify compliance, and address deficiencies.
• Monitor temperature controls, sanitation, employee hygiene, pest prevention, and practices that prevent cross-contamination.
• Maintain accurate food safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, and corrective action logs.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections, customer audits, and applicable third-party food safety audits.
• Investigate product safety concerns and noncompliance issues, identify root causes, and follow through on corrective actions.
• Coordinate product holds, traceability activities, and recalls when necessary.
• Train employees and supervisors on food safety requirements and proper handling procedures.
• Partner with purchasing and suppliers to address product quality and food safety concerns.
• Work with warehouse and transportation leaders to maintain safe conditions in storage areas and delivery vehicles.
• Keep food safety programs current as regulatory requirements and operational needs change.
