Job summary

Amazon is seeking an innovative regulatory and compliance attorney to support its Food Safety Operations team in North America. You will counsel on food safety requirements for private label products, online grocery, and health and wellness categories, and help advance scalable food safety technology tools.

As part of a global legal team, you will advise on FDA/USDA/Health Canada regulations, manage regulatory projects, and help design safety mechanisms to reduce recalls and protect customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of legal experience.
• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the ethical considerations surrounding AI in the legal context, such as confidentiality, accuracy, and bias prevention.
• Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Providing day-to-day advice to our Food Safety Operations team and food businesses on regulations governing the transport and sale of food from farm to fork.
• Monitoring and advising on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes.
• Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the Food Safety and technology teams.
• Advising on internal processes and practices to support food safety related governance requirements and expectations.
• Engagements with regulators such as the U.S. FDA, USDA, Health Canada and provincial, state and local health departments.
