Job summary

Fairmont Orchid on Hawai'i Island offers a 3 week to 5 week internship in a luxury resort dining environment. You will deliver exceptional guest experiences across outlets featuring authentic local cuisine and modern hospitality.

Join a collaborative team in a high-end setting with exposure to extensive F&B operations, ACS service standards and guest engagement. Must be eligible to work in the United States; housing and meals may be provided.

Qualifications

• Strong guest-service orientation and calm demeanor.
• Good reading, writing and spoken English.
• State and Federal work authorization for Food & Beverage (Tuberculosis Clearance).

Responsibilities

• Provide unique dining experiences to all guests with warm, personal and detailed service in a luxury, upscale environment.
• Ensure a positive first impression of the restaurant through cleanliness, setup and ambiance control.
• Deliver guest food orders to tables and service floor efficiently and accurately.
• Maintain knowledge of all F&B services, contents and preparation methods.
• Assist servers with garnishing menu items and keep chinaware clean.
• Monitor quality and consistency of all menu items served.
• Keep service line area clean and orderly.
• Requisition condiments and ensure stock for daily service operations.
• Memorize guest names and preferences for personalized service.
• Serve food and beverages according to service standards.
• Perform opening/closing side duties and set tables per standards.
• Assist other outlets during peak times.
• Apply HACCP food safety and hygiene standards.
• Be familiar with hotel fire and life safety procedures.
• Maintain professional appearance and hygiene.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Experience a 3 week - 5 week internship in a luxury resort environment with an emphasis on delivering exceptional guest experiences at any of our outlets featuring authentically local and innovative cuisine.

What you will be doing

• Provide unique dining experiences to all of our guests through warm, personal & detailed service in a luxury, upscale and fast paced environment.
• Ensure a positive first impression of the restaurant for our guests through detailed cleanliness, set-up and ambiance control.
• Distribution and delivery of guest’s food orders out onto the service floor and serving them at their tables to the correct guest
• Maintain complete knowledge of all F&B services, contents & preparation methods, outlets and hotel services/features
• Assist servers in proper garnishing of all menu items ordered
• Maintain cleanliness of all chinaware. Monitor quality and consistency of all menu items being served
• Maintain clean and orderly condition of the service line station.
• Daily requisition of all food condiments and to ensure adequate stock levels of all necessary dishware, linen and condiments for daily service operations
• Try to remember individual patron’s names and their preferences to extend a personalized service
• Ensure that all food & beverage are served according to service standard
• Perform opening/closing side duties as assigned and set all tables according to standards and procedures
• Assist other Food & Beverage outlets with their operations during peak times or when required
• Apply necessary precautions with regards to the hotel food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)
• Be well versed in hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management of the Hotel

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include

• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language
• Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team
• Detailed & service oriented with an eye for detail to be self-motivated and energetic.
• Provide the necessary State and Federal Requirements to work in Food and Beverage (Tuberculosis Clearance)

Hourly Wage

$24.04 USD
