THE ROLE
The Food Runner reports to the Food and Beverage Managers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, delivering food to customers promptly, cleaning tables, and ensuring guest needs are met. This position interacts with everyone in the hotel, so strong and adaptable interpersonal skills are essential. The ability to organize and be strategic when delivering food is also crucial.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Clean, set, and reset tables continuously, assuming responsibility for the station, tables, and side duties.
- Complete opening and closing side work as assigned, ensuring all tables are set according to standards.
- Present menus and explain all menu items and specials of the day.
- Utilize the hotel’s computer system to ring up sales, print checks, close checks, and complete closing readings.
- Carry trays, bus, and reset tables with linen, china, glass, and silverware.
- Ascertain guest satisfaction and handle any problems, informing a manager of the issue and how it was resolved.
- Recognize and address potential intoxicated, disruptive, or undesirable guests.
- Stock linen, china, silver, and glassware for service.
- Maintain accurate control of guest checks, credit vouchers, currency, and posting procedures.
- Record all guest charges, gratuities, and cash transactions accurately.
- Set up orders on trays and tables and transport them to guest floors and rooms.
- Respond appropriately to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED :
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal.
- At least 1 year of food and beverage experience.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- High drive and determination.
- Ability to recommend service and product improvements to enhance operations.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules based on hotel needs.
- Ability to roll and/or carry tables and chairs.
- Ability to lift over 35 lbs when carrying food trays.
- Continuous standing and walking for 4-5 hours.
Base Hourly Rate: $18.29 ($22 - $35) plus tips. Associates participate in a house tip pool shared among all hourly staff contributing to guest experience.
