Job Summary

The Food Runner / Bar Back is responsible for delivering food, beverage & supplies items from the kitchen and pantry to the dining room, bar or storage location. In this position, the runner must have an understanding of the content of the menu and ensure that products are delivered in a timely fashion. The runner must understand and follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and help with the execution of area setup and breakdown.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Deliver food, beverage & supplies to dining room, bar or storage location.
2. Adhere to location appearance guidelines.
3. Act with a sense of urgency and professionalism.
4. Employ good safety and sanitation practices.
5. Follow responsible alcohol service policies.
6. Exhibit exceptional communication skills and demonstrate the ability to get along well with others. Remain flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff.
7. Assemble and deliver all food, beverage and supplies for Restaurant, Catering & other functions to their scheduled locations.
8. Log and maintain food temperatures.
9. Arrange Chef’s Tables, bars, and service stations with food, beverage and service items according to standards.
10. Maintain in-depth knowledge of complete menu and products on hand.
11. Promptly address complaints or issues; relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor.
12. Ensure guests receive friendly, courteous service at all times.
13. Thoroughly clean location before, during & after events.
14. Return food and beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility.
15. Stock, clean and maintain catering facility and equipment.
16. Perform post event product inventory and restock as needed.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Stand for long periods of time and be able to actively engage physically with guests.
2. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
3. React with physical and mental alertness in emergency situations.
4. Demonstrate physical stamina required to be mobile for long periods.
5. Lift/move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
6. Move from sitting to standing position easily and quickly.

Requirements:

1. 2 years’ experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.
2. Willingness to learn and grow.
3. An outgoing personality is preferred.
4. Ability to interact with high profile guests and remain professional and dedicated to providing an exceptional experience.
5. The ability to communicate effectively by writing, speaking and comprehending English.
6. The ability to problem solve and make decisions with little guidance.
