Job summary

Masis Professional Group is assisting a frozen fruits and vegetables distributor in finding a Direct Hire Quality Assurance Technician. You will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and collaborate with the Food Safety team to keep products safe, maintain audit readiness, and support holds and releases.

The role involves writing SOPs, performing internal audits, lab backup, sampling, and data entry in Excel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in QA/QC within food manufacturing, preferably in frozen foods.
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, QA, or related field.
• Experience with hold and release, SOP writing, and internal audits.
• Working knowledge of HACCP, GFSI standards (SQF/BRCGS), CFIA regulations.
• Hands-on laboratory experience (microbiological sampling, pH, Brix, physical analysis).
• Excellent documentation practices and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support the hold and release process for raw materials and finished goods.
• Act as alternate Quality Coordinator for the release of raw materials.
• Track held product, document dispositions, and ensure holds are closed.
• Write, review, and update SOPs, work instructions, and quality forms.
• Maintain audit-ready quality records in systems and logs.
• Enter and manage quality data in Excel and quality systems; flag trends.
• Assist in planning and conducting internal audits and follow-up actions.
• Perform GMP inspections in production areas and support environmental monitoring.
• Sample inbound containers and perform microbiological and physicochemical tests.
• Record sampling details, communicate with warehouse, and back up lab testing.
• Train QA/QC technicians and provide backup for QC roles.
• Prepare product samples for customers and assist with shipment packaging.
