The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking an adaptable part-time worker to support Corps operations. The role includes collecting donations, assisting with meal preparation and service, and maintaining sanitary kitchen areas.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and basic computer skills for payroll/timekeeping. Must pass background checks and hold a valid driver's license to operate fleet vehicles.

Part- Time 18 Hours Per Week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7:30 A.M.- 1:30 P.M., Compensation Rate: $12.00 Per Hour

Summary/Primary Purpose: To support Corps operations through the collection, transportation, storage, preparation, and distribution of donated food and other resources. This position is responsible for donation pickups, assisting with meal preparation and service, and maintaining safe and sanitary work environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Transportation and Donations

• Drive Salvation Army truck/van to collect donations as scheduled.
• Distribute donations to appropriate departments and programs.
• Oversee safe loading and unloading of vehicles, ensuring the safety of employees and volunteers.
• Interact with donors in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as authorized.

Food Service Operations

• Assist with weekly food preparation and meal service in accordance with all Health Department food safety, sanitation, and food handling standards.
• Serve meals to community members and program participants.
• Provide leadership and oversight of kitchen operations in the absence of the Food Programs Manager.
• Maintain proper food storage procedures for cold, frozen, and dry goods, including management of leftovers.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness throughout the kitchen, dining, storage, refrigeration, and freezer areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages Volunteers.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

1. Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
2. Knowledge of basic tools, cleaning equipment, and cleaning products.
3. Basic computer skills with the ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
4. Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
5. Strong independent judgment.

Other Qualifications:

Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be approved to operate Salvation Army fleet vehicles.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army. In addition, Serve Safe Certification & Forklift Training.

Working Conditions:

The work environment is a kitchen, with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
