Food Preparation Worker

Do you have experience preparing food for large groups? Are you passionate about making sure food is handled safely and correctly? We are looking for a food preparation worker to help us with our catering business. Based in ExampleCorp's kitchen in Los Angeles, you will be responsible for helping our chefs with food preparation, including cutting vegetables, making sauces, and plating meals. You will also be responsible for keeping the kitchen clean and organized. If you are a hard worker with a passion for food, we want you on our team!

Key Responsibilities

The following areas of focus will be central to your role in this position:

• Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron, and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
• Cook the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
• Set up and maintain workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
• Sweep and mop floors, and clean walls and ceilings in food preparation areas and storage rooms. Prepare special meals or substitute items, and check to ensure that proper food temperatures are maintained and that food is served at the correct time.
• Inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food items are not available.
• Hire, train, and supervise new food preparation workers.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following attributes:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of one year of experience in food preparation or a related field
• Basic math and reading skills
