Job summary

Pulsejobs is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Elgin, IL to uphold, repair and optimize electrical and mechanical systems across the plant—including HVAC, refrigeration and production-related equipment. The role requires reading schematics, diagnosing issues, and performing emergency repairs to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities span wiring, equipment installation, testing, safety compliance, and supporting new installations, with a focus on root-cause analysis and reliable operation in a 24/7

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of maintenance experience.
• Food industry experience preferred.
• Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency.
• Strong background in refrigeration systems – HVAC experience.
• Knowledge of PLC software is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install conduit, pipes or tubing and pull wires to complete circuits.
• Work from ladders/scaffolds to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures.
• Use a variety of tools and testing equipment for maintenance tasks.
• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical equipment and fixtures.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems and locate causes of breakdowns.
• Inspect electrical systems for hazards and compliance with codes.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks per schedule.
• Respond to maintenance calls across the plant.
• Support installation of new equipment and related projects.
• Complete paperwork and safety/ GMP compliance documentation.
