Job summary

Ventura Foods in Portland, OR is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain machinery in the Margarine/Oil division, support operators, and keep equipment in top condition following food-safety practices. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, rebuild pumps and gearboxes, and assist with changeovers to improve asset uptime.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years in food manufacturing, and knowledge of GMP, LOTO, and reading

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Capable to perform duties of Production Machine Technician.
Minor AC/DC electrical troubleshooting skills.
Basic understanding of mechanical applications and principles.
Basic part identification.
At least 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing plant with exposure to packaging, processing, HVAC, or hydraulics.

Responsibilities

Performs corrective and emergency maintenance on food packaging/processing equipment.
Completes scheduled preventative maintenance and work orders to extend asset life.
Troubleshoots and resolves minor mechanical/electrical issues.
Rebuilds pumps, mills, gearboxes and other mechanical components.
Assists operators with troubleshooting and with changeovers.
Supports the SQF program and food safety initiatives.
Other duties within the maintenance department as assigned.
