Job summary

MaineGeneral Health’s Food & Nutrition team is seeking an Inventory Coordinator to manage inventory, coordinate deliveries, and maintain storage areas to support safe, efficient operations.

This role involves FIFO, receiving and inspecting deliveries, maintaining records, stocking departments, sourcing seasonal items from local vendors, and communicating shortages or substitutions to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Experience in inventory, food service, purchasing, receiving, or a related field.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of food products, supplies, and equipment for the Food & Nutrition department.
• Place orders for food, supplies, and equipment while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and ensuring products are available when needed.
• Receive, inspect, break down, and properly store deliveries according to food safety standards and FIFO practices.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, complete weekly inventories, and update product pricing as needed.
• Prepare and deliver stock orders throughout the department, ensuring supplies reach the appropriate areas in a timely manner.
• Keep storage areas clean, organized, and well maintained to support food safety and efficient operations.
• Work with local farmers and other vendors to source seasonal and locally produced menu items.
• Communicate with supervisors and vendors regarding product availability, substitutions, shortages, or changes in specifications.
• Follow department procedures related to food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and TCH requirements.
