  • Work Schedule: Two shifts - 1st Shift: 6:55 am - 3:25 pm; 2nd Shift: 3:55 pm - 12:25 am, Mon-Fri. Rotates every 4 weeks

Duties
  • Work in slaughter plants examining food animals to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Perform duties before and after slaughter to prevent contamination.
  • Maintain sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure products are fit to eat and adhere to Federal laws.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Complete a pre-employment medical exam.
  • Obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance; may require a NACI.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification for Selective Service.
  • Submit a resume documenting 52 weeks of specialized experience.
  • Verification through DHS E-VERIFY system upon hiring.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment (OF-306) if selected.
  • False statements can lead to disciplinary actions or removal.
  • Must have direct deposit set up.
Qualifications

The role involves working in hazardous environments in slaughter plants. Applicants must be physically and medically capable of performing essential functions, including standing on slippery floors, lifting up to 50 pounds, and having good vision and color discrimination.

For GS-5 level: One year of specialized experience in food production, slaughter, meat cutting, quality control, or related supervisory roles, or a bachelor's degree with relevant coursework.

For GS-7 level: One year of specialized experience in regulatory food inspection involving ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection, or similar experience demonstrating knowledge of sanitation laws, federal regulations, and effective communication skills.

Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer, or related activities that develop relevant skills.
