  • VACANCY INFORMATION: Kodak, TN
  • Applicants should expect to work some weekends and holidays. Overtime may be available.
  • Establishment: M8314-Swaggerty Sausage Company, Inc. (Kodak-TN)
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. (1st shift)
  • Activity: Slaughter/Processing

Duties
  • Entry-level Food Inspectors work in slaughter plants, examining food animals.
  • Perform duties before and after slaughter to ensure products are not contaminated.
  • Maintain sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure products are fit to eat and compliant with Federal laws.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Submit a resume documenting 52 weeks of specialized experience.
  • Compliance with E-VERIFY system for employment eligibility.
  • Potential requirement to complete a Declaration for Federal Employment (OF-306).
  • Must have direct deposit set up.
Qualifications

The work environment is hazardous. Applicants must:

  • Be physically and medically capable of performing essential functions.
  • Have full range of motion for rapid movements and working with arms above shoulder level.
  • Be able to stand, walk on slippery and uneven surfaces, and climb stairs/ladders.
  • Lift up to 30 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Have manual dexterity and good vision, including the ability to distinguish shades of color.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and experience requirements by the closing date, including specialized experience or education as outlined.

For the GS-5 level:

One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience or a bachelor's degree with relevant coursework.

For the GS-7 level:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, involving regulatory food inspection work.
