Job summary

The American Girl Retail team at Chicago's Flagship store is seeking a Food Expeditor to engage guests and support our mission of "Celebrating Girls". This role focuses on delivering food and beverages with courtesy, upselling where appropriate, and ensuring smooth service in a child-friendly environment.

As a Food Expeditor, you will interact with guests, maintain proper hygiene and safety standards, and collaborate with café staff to deliver a memorable experience in line with AG standards.

Qualifications

• SERV Safe certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Impeccable customer service skills.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Treat all guests equally and respectfully per AG standards; deliver food and beverages and maintain tables.
• Initiate conversations with customers and provide personalized attention in a child-friendly environment.
• Use sound judgment in challenging service situations and involve a supervisor when needed.
• Assist with parties, store events, stocking supplies and other tasks as requested by a supervisor.
• Follow food safety guidelines, including labeling, storage, proper temperatures and avoiding cross-contamination.

The Team

The American Girl Retail team is integral in providing lifetime memories to American Girl fans and their families. Our experiential retail stores provide shopping destinations like no other. This requires Innovation, Collaboration, and Execution from all who are a part of this division. Our in-store experiences range depending on location from Girl and Doll Salons, Full-Service Restaurants, Personal Shopping, Ear Piercing (Girl and Doll), hosting Parties/Celebrations to name a few. Expect a dynamic and fast-paced role where you get to make decisions that impact the team as well as our customers.

The Opportunity

The Food Expeditor is located at the AG Retail Flagship Chicago location and reports directly to the Assistant Café Manager. This position is responsible for approaching and engaging all customers in a professional and courteous manner and actively supporting our mission of "Celebrating Girls".

What Your Impact Will Be

• Treat all guests equally and respectfully. Service all guests with proper etiquette and according to AG standards, including but not limited to delivering food and beverages, suggestively upselling, tables are checked and maintained throughout the seating by filling drinks, clearing, and resetting tables.
• Initiate conversations with customers and provide them with personalized attention. Display positive, friendly demeanor and passion for working in a child friendly environment.
• Use sound judgment with challenging service situations, react quickly and professionally, and involve a supervisor when needed.
• Manage special requests and birthday information accurately and timely. Assisting with parties and storewide special events, stocking supplies, and other projects as requested by a supervisor.
• Follow food safety guidelines, including but not limited to proper food labeling and storage, FIFO, foods stored at proper temperature, and avoiding cross-contamination.
• Have knowledge and understanding of local and state health sanitation laws.
• Company guidelines on safety and sanitation are followed for personal hygiene.

What We’re Looking For

• SERV Safe certification, preferred.
• 1 to 2 years of experience, preferred.
• Experience working with children, preferred.
