Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Food & Beverage experience.

  • Knowledge of HACCP & local food safety standards.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain relevant state and local certifications (food handler, alcohol training).

Responsibilities

  • Lead front‑of‑house staff including servers, hosts, bartenders, and bussers.
  • Oversee daily operations of the venue(s) (89 Bar & Grill or Big Blue View Bar).
  • Ensure prompt, courteous service and address guest concerns professionally.
  • Maintain high quality in food & beverage preparation and presentation.
  • Manage inventory, orders, and regular stock checks; keep bar well stocked.
  • Ensure compliance with alcohol laws and responsible service practices.
  • Provide ongoing training to bar staff on mixology and safety.
  • Support promotions to drive bar sales and guest engagement.
  • Oversee cash handling, transactions, and POS accuracy.
  • Maintain clean, organized outlet spaces and coordinate with maintenance.
  • Assist in planning and executing events and private functions.

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Homewood Mountain & Lake Club, set on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in Homewood, California.

Homewood is seeking a Food & Beverage Supervisor to join the Food & Beverage Department.

Job Summary:

The Food & Beverage Supervisor will be responsible for leading the team, ensuring exceptional food and beverage service, maintaining quality standards, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. This role is perfect for someone who has strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and enjoys working in a vibrant and scenic environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership - Supervise and mentor the front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts, bartenders, and bussers, providing direction, training, and constructive feedback to ensure a high level of service.
  • Operations - Oversee the daily operations of the assigned venue (89 Bar & Grill or Big Blue View Bar), including managing schedules, monitoring staff performance, and ensuring efficient service.
  • Guest Experience - Ensure that all guests receive prompt, courteous, and attentive service. Address any guest concerns or issues professionally and effectively.
  • Beverage Quality - Maintain the highest standards in food & beverage preparation and presentation. Ensure that all items are prepared and delivered according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Inventory & Stock Management - Manage outlet inventory, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and conducting regular inventory checks. Ensure the bar is always fully stocked with necessary items.
  • Compliance - Ensure adherence to all state and local laws regarding the sale and service of alcohol. This includes verifying guest IDs and ensuring responsible alcohol service practices are followed.
  • Staff Training - Provide ongoing training to bar staff on mixology, customer service, and safety procedures. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Sales & Promotions - Work with the Restaurant Manager to create and implement promotional activities to drive bar sales. This may include developing signature cocktails, organizing events, and promoting happy hour specials.
  • Financial Management - Oversee cash handling procedures, ensuring accuracy in transactions and financial reporting. Balance cash drawers and manage POS systems effectively.
  • Cleanliness & Maintenance - Ensure the outlet area is clean, organized, and well-maintained. Coordinate with cleaning and maintenance staff to address any issues promptly.
  • Event Support - Assist in planning and executing special events, private functions, and other activities at Homewood.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of Food & Beverage experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership service role or similar capacity role with exposure in food and beverage standards.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others and maintain accountability of staff.
  • Knowledge of HACCP & local food safety standards.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain relevant state and local government certifications, such as food handlers certificate and alcohol training certifications.

  • Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and desire to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
