Job summary

Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) is seeking a Food Bank Associate to support food distribution, storage, and outreach within the CAC Food Bank. You will operate a box truck, inspect food quality, manage inventory, and assist clients during distribution.

You will also coordinate volunteers, ensure facility safety, and participate in ongoing trainings to strengthen service to the community. This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and attention to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to pass the D.O.T. medical exam.
• Availability to work Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional flexibility.
• Proficiency in using Office suite programs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak English.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate a box truck to transport donated and purchased food products to the Food Bank.
• Safely store food products in compliance with health department regulations and inspect food for quality.
• Stock shelves, rotate food products, and maintain an accurate inventory.
• Ensure the Food Bank facility meets all regulatory standards, including cleaning and maintenance of vehicles.
• Distribute TEFAP foods to Partner Pantries and assist clients during distribution.
• Lead and communicate effectively with volunteers.
• Provide support to clients during distribution, assisting them to their vehicles.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings for professional development.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and clients to achieve CAC’s mission.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
